Allah has already written the destiny of every person, but dua can be a means of making matters easier. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

"Dua changes destiny." (Tirmidhi)

Virtue of the Dua for Purification of the Heart

Purity of the heart leads to spiritual peace and closeness to Allah. The Quran states:

"Indeed, he succeeds who purifies it (his soul)." (Surah Ash-Shams: 9)

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) also encouraged believers to pray for a pure heart. Removing envy, hatred, and malice from the heart not only brings peace in this life but also leads to success in the Hereafter.
